1.0 tsi clutch pedal vibration

Featured Replies

Hi all, I have recently took a lease on a 1.0 tsi octavia as I do short journeys every day. Car drives great except one complaint, when I set off in 1st to get biting point I can feel like a vibration sort of spring tension feeling in the clutch pedal and it does it from 1st to 2nd gear but all other gears are smooth as silk in the pedal, when i set off i give her a little bit of gas and bring clutch up steady, been back to dealers and they say it's normal for a 1.0 tsi engine as its 3 cylinder and something to do with it being a unbalanced engine. Anyone else experience same as this. Any help be great thanks. Btw here is a pic of her.

I would try another dealer to honest as that is NOT normal, as far as i know the 1.0Tsi has a balancer shaft, so there should be no vibration through the clutch pedal, infact i have driven a couple of late model Fabia's with same engine and they had no vibration through the clutch at all. They might also have a dual mass flywheel which also takes vibration away (not sure though)

I think the EA211 1.0 tsi does not have a seperate balancer shaft - it's effectively part of the design of the crankshaft etc. The smaller engines also usually don't thave a DMF either.

I test drove a 3cylinder 1.0 Kamiq last weekend and there was no vibration through the clutch with this car. However it is true the 3cylinder is ultimately an unbalanced engine.

However there may be nothing wrong and it may improve on running in a bit - sometimes clutches can be a bit juddery when brand new. My previous Superb mk I 1.9 pd suffered a touch of 1st gear clutch judder when it only had a low mileage on it but that settled - current owner says it's OK at about 250k miles (same orginal clutch)

Hmmm very strange, I had a technician test drove it with ne and he acknowledged the feel of the clutch and said was normal but I'm not a fan of dealership technicians and what they tell me so hence why I seek a bit of advice on here to throw at them. It's not a bad vibration just a annoyance, changing 2nd to 3rd and so on is smooth, just clutch control in 1st and 1st to second gives a sort of engine feedback feel in pedal, it's quite hard to explain what its doing

I feel the engine very slightly through the wheel and pedals at idle, I'll check mine this evening re the gearchange.  Yours looks like mine would if I had paid for metallic.  Is yours an SE Technology too?

Yea I feel that too it's like micro vibration which will be to do with it being 3 cylinder but if I put mine in 1st and set off it will vibrate and if I change to 2nd between 2 and 3000 rpm I get a chattering feeling in clutch but then rest of gears are smooth. Noticed yesterday as well at idle mine makes a slight knocking noise in rhythm with engine as if mounts are loose. Going dealers on thursday so will update. Yeah mine is a se technology. Car be perfect if little faults are sorted.

Not aware of anything like that, but will turn the stereo down for a listen tonight 👍

Well il see what dealer says about mine thursday, did fill up with tesco unleaded 95 ron so not sure if it's cheap fuel causing noise as it's more ticky than usual

Mine’s done 800 miles on a mixture of Esso 95 & Tesco 99 Momentum (including the 130 miles it had when it was delivered as mine is a lease car). I notice yours is lease too, was the local dealer who is doing the investigation the supplying dealer too?

Maybe it’s just that it is has more miles under its belt, but over the last 400 miles on 99 fuel it appears to pull from lower revs better. It could also be me self justifying the extra 7p a litre for the fuel!!!

No mate, the car was from a dealer in arybury I believe. So I'm only using my local dealer. I have used esso 95 and did seem ok on that. Mine has done around 1200 miles so I'm just going to keep on at dealer to investigate clutch as in time they will probably turn round and say oh its wear and tear where as 1200 miles is no excuse for them. Keep one step ahead all the time

Good luck. You have the fact the car has already been reported on your side re the mileage.

Cheers mate, if it dobt get sorted skoda uk will be getting a call for sure. Not paying out for a car that has become faulty. Never did this to start with.

Mine is from North Wales dealer with a Welsh reg number, using a fleet admin centre in Warrington & delivered to Kent from a PDI centre in Oxfordshire!!!

Mine’s not as well kept as yours!!

Nice mate, I was going to have same colour but decided to go for race blue. Still a nice car though pal

They only had Energy Blue in stock where I got mine from & I would have had to pay the full value of the metallic over the lease time so it would have been £20 a month & they get the residual advantage. Solid blue it was!!! Might clean it if it ever stops raining.
