Hi, 

 

Does anyone know if genuine MB 229.51 oil matches the required or approved spec for VW 507 00 oil by any chance?

 

I ask as I have the best part of 15 litres left over from a 20 litre "lube cube" of genuine MB oil and it would be great if I could use it. 

 

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.  

Mercedes won't promote their own-branded oil as suitable for other manufacturers.

However, Quantum (VAG's own brand) do, and their Quantum Longlife III is 'recommended' (not approved) to MB 229.51, so it stands to reason that the MB oil would be suitable for use in VAG / Skoda engines requiring longlife, low ash VW 507.00 5W30 oil...

I’ve had the 500 miles to service due or 20 days message pop up so I need to get in gear for it. Does anyone know the sump plug washer size so I can get it ahead of time rather than once I’ve taken it off the car and then have to head to motor factors. It’s a mk3 2.0 tdi common rail 2013 model. 

Use the Eurocarparts website, it'll give you the correct sump plug...
