broken heater on vRS

Featured Replies

No heat or blowers working on vRS

any ideas how much this costs to fix?

is it a DIY job? or is it the sort of thing that can blow up if someone makes a mess of it?

Start with checking the fuses, heater flap motor getting stuck is also common, check that there's movement by switching from hot to cold and back a few times.

If blower not working, could be heater blower resistor that is a DIY job that is covered on the site.

oops sorry i misdiagnosed.Am hearing this 2nd hand from a friend but now seen it myself.

Engine does reach operating temps as normal. Air is blowing but no heat.

Could it have anything to do with coolant? or possible head gasket failure?

Start by replacing the thermostat, cheap, quick and easy.

I'd see if he can get it scanned with VCDS. Wouldn't be surprised to see fault codes in the HVAC module related to V68 heater flap motor, as sep suggested first.

But the engine is reaching temp as normal?

I'd go with Wino suggestion first and see if there are any fault codes in the HVAC control unit, then initiate a basic setting routine and see if the temp flap is moving at all.
