Jonathan,

thanks for the info I also had someone mention to me that it was going to be a pd diesel and in estate form so your info seems to add weight, I am keen to see what its like, the deisel doen't put me off to much. It will be interesting to see the price. Might think about trading my 2.0 Octavia as I was a bit disapointed at the Octavia rs estate.

It does seems strange to have a diesel RS fabia.

I thought the obvious engine would be the ubiquitous VW 1.8 turbo engine.

However, I have diesel coursing through my veins :!:

The 130pd engine can easily be remapped to produce 180bhp and over 300lb/ft torque.

Ah, but they reckon that more than half of all new cars sold will be diesels by 2005. It's just so much cheaper to run. Therefore the diesel choice makes perfect business sense - it's got good performance, looks ace AND has great fuel economy. They can't lose.

I might have to see if I can persuade the Mrs into trading her Fiesta in for one if they do make 'em :D

i said definately, 180bhp now were talking, it could electric i i wouldnt care. I dont know anything about the styling but if they do what they did with the occy, its gonna be da bomb car.

Hot Fabia RS set to pack a punch

Skoda is preparing a hot but frugal RS version of the Fabia, which will use a 130bhp diesel engine and be capable of more than 55mpg.

The racy supermini is expected go on sale in the autumn, costing from around

Not a car I'd trade in my Octavia for, but it does sound like a great little car. :D

All that torque is gonna make it a great car to drive, the old saying "people buy power but drive torque" applies here.

The standard Fabia is a great car to drive already and looks pretty cool too. If Skoda do as good a job on the Fabia vRS as on the Octavia vRS then it will be brilliant.

I'm glad there will finally be vRS Fabia, hopefully we'll get a combi version too. Now that I would consider. It would be a great alternative to those big-selling but expensive Golf diesels.

Can't wait to see it!

Let's hope it gets the styling that concept model had! Does anyone still have copies of those pictures?

The brakes are sure to be upgraded for enhanced stopping power.

The Brakes are too be uprated! I nearly cause a pile up if I use a fifth of the brakes power in the Fabia!! Mind you it does have 4 discs, some Octavia's don't come with that!

Hmm.. and I read somewhere recently in a car mag that the new Polo is getting the 180bhp turbo motor and the Fabia vRS the 150bhp version..

How about a 150bhp Octavia vRS TDi ?? The Golf with this engine is fairly brisk yet pretty frugal on the juice.. just a thought!

Yes, i know what you mean, although they can fade with repeated use....

One thing i have noticed, is that the brakes are more responsive after i have hosed out all the old brake dust when i wash it!
