Waiting Times

Featured Replies

Ordered a new Scala SEL DSG with loads of bits 8 weeks ago, the Garage  say I will be lucky to see it before Feb/March next year at the earliest, no firm build dates yet!!

This delivery time is almost as bad as the Yeti deliveries a few years ago.

Skoda cars that have been in the Family

Yeti 1.2 DSG 30 weeks wait loved this car but crap size boot.

Citygo Auto 4 weeks wait,  biggest load of rubbish ever made, outright dangerous gearbox, chopped it in after 3 months.

First Fabia MK3 SEL 1.2 DSG took 14 weeks one of the first cars off the production lines (64 plate).

Second Fabia Estate MK3 1.2 SEL DSG ((A lemon with no-end of gearbox probs) took 12 weeks, fantastic boot for such a small car.

Third Fabia Estate MK3  1.0 SEL DSG 13 weeks, I held it back for the 18 reg by 2 weeks. Sweet Sweet car

We ordered another Fabia for the wife last year, Skoda had problem supplying engines after 5 months with no build dates she told them to stick it. An order was placed for a Ford Fiesta auto it took 8 weeks with a build date given while in the dealers.

If nothing else you learn to be patient  when buying a Skoda

It's why I normally walk in and buy from stock.

We had a similar experience. Scala SEL DSG. Sports seats and black sports interior etc. Waited well over three months from order.

Initially given a date of early October. Early October bumped to Mid October, after the first months wait. Mid october bumped to late October two weeks before projected delivery date. Three days before revised delivery date of last weekend in October, we got told that it was on a dockside in Germany and hadn't been loaded and we finally took delivery in Early November, which was a month later than expected on an already long wait!

Incidentally our dealer informed us that several basic Scala orders had been fulfilled during our wait and that the delay was caused by Skoda not keeping a stock and ordering in the unusual stuff, like sports seats and interior etc!

Some Kodiak buyers have allegedly been given dates in March also, so three months or more is not uncommon!

As for our Scala (my wifes car), it was worth the wait. It's so smooth to drive and on a trip to Scotland last week, it did an average of just over 50mpg (50.1) on the way up and just under 50mpg (49.8) in heavier traffic on the way back. Not at all bad, for a car with around 500 miles on the clock before the trip! The total milage for the trip was just over 1000 miles, there and back, with no major issues or gripes.

If I had to wait 4 months, during that time I would almost certainly change my mind about the choice of car, and even more likely find a better deal.

I always make decisions "now". I can't wait or circumstances will change.

I did change from a Scala to a Kamiq the Kamiq was in production had no build week for the Scala

UK-built cars used to be built and stored in fields and disused airfields and were full of rust before delivery. I suppose built to order you will get a corrosion-free vehicle

You should this year.

From last years cars many thousands were banked i various countries for months waiting on the WLTP Certification.

Months of sitting at runways, railway sidings and multistory car parks.

Time will tell if all is well with all of those.

In the 80's loads of unsold (and presumably rusty) Alfas were returned from Germany to Milan, to be given the facelift bumpers and lights and then put back on sale as new. The cars had sat in stock in Germany for 2 years already.

I had a Fiat with an odd paint defect like tiny rust marks - that was seemingly Iron filings from the railway next to the storeyard where it had been sat for 6 months awaiting a buyer.

When I learned that a Kodiaq factory build order could be 6 months I ordered a replacement car exactly 6 months before my present PCH expires.

Pretty relaxed about it now as it should comfortably show up on time.

It’s a crazy world.

I can't believe the waiting times myself, however it is what it is!

We've just changed my wife's car. We purchased our last cars at the same time, so I'm waiting until the middle of next year, just to space out replacements in the future!

I've never factored in waiting times.

Maybe I need to order sooner than I thought! Good shout.

Yippee

Further to my post on the 2nd of December

Contacted by the dealer today my new SEL DSG Scala with a load of extra's has made the UK docks

They say I should be picking it up early January.

All in all it will be approximately a 14 week wait.

Any others waiting or thinking of buying I hope this brings joy

An early Happy new year to you all

That seems about right to me, at least. I've placed an order on the new Scala 1.0L 95HP 5-man a couple of days before Christmas and the est. time of production and delivery is about 2/3 months. The lady at the small and quaint dealership said she's had cases where a car was supposed to be delivered in 3 months, was fully manufactured in 1 month. I guess it all depends on the queue and productionship.

  • 1 month later...

My order on Scala was placed in the half of January, with expected delivery in two months. This week I was told it would be delivered in the first week of March, so a week or two earlier than predicted.

But it will only be 100% when the car is actually delivered.

  • 3 weeks later...

Nothing compared to VW.  24 weeks for a Polo R DSG when I inquired last week.  That wasn’t even a special order but a pre-ordered vehicle!  Doesn’t help it just to be shipped from South Africa I guess.  I popped around the corner and got a Scala SE L DSG from ŠKODA instead.  Two to three weeks - would be quicker but it has to be shipped from GB to Northern Ireland.

If you want a DSG Golf (my first choice), forget about it.  With Mk8 coming they don’t have any.

Could also be from a trip from the factory to storage on an open railway wagon!  It’s sometimes shocking how much comes off a brand new car when you put a fallout remover on!

As Covid19 takes hold you can only expect lead times to increase.

Luckily mine has already arrived and will be ready to be picked up next week.

Excellent.  I bet you can't wait!  Is it replacing the Fabia?

Mines somewhere or other in England so should just be a case of popping it on a transporter then a ferry.  Unfortunately all these storms won't help!!!

Yup & yup :D

Gotta get something bigger for the family.
