Not starting, EPC, power steering and oil lamp on. No codes

Featured Replies

This morning when trying to start the car it failed. The starter works fine, and it sound like its turning but not firing at all. At first EPC and power steeing light was on, then after a few attempts also oil lamp came on.

My cheap little OBD reader registers no codes. (It does successfully connect etc)

The gearbox has a issue, but does still work. And i recently had a coil fail and replaced.

And obvious things i can check before i probably scrap it? As the gearbox will eventually fail, I don't think its worth spending more money on it. Its becoming a problem car. When I bought it 7 years ago i thought i was lucky as it had only 30K on it with 1 previous owner (elderly man)  But turns out cars like to be used regularly, not parked 😞

This is a Fabia I combo, 6Y6 1.4 16v 2004

Check battery voltage, and check whether the battery light comes on when you switch on the ignition, when all the other lights self-test (it should do).

Will check, the battery light did come on at self test.

weirdly my girlfriend just tried to start it and it started fine, she didn't look at the lights so will check when i get home. But seems like temperature is somehow relevant i guess. Was a cold night

Change the CTS.

Will definitely try that, I'll order one. Got home and that car starts fine with no fault lights. And no engine code
