replacement battery for sat nav

Featured Replies

I've got a 2014 Skoda Citigo and the Garmin sat nav has packed up. I want to try replacing the battery, but my local dealer can't help, and Navigon (who make the unit) say they can't either.

I bought a replacement battery online, but the terminals don't match the one I'm replacing. The battery I need has three separate ultraminiature spade terminals, rather than a small box type plastic connector. All the ones I have seen online have the wrong connector. Perhaps I'm not Googling the correct sat nav model number?  I've tried 10R-04 6953.

I just want to give this one more try (i.e. buy another battery) before lashing out £400 or so on a new unit. Any ideas anyone?

Also small tip, buy some foam tape to stick to the battery, just stops it rattling around

The existing battery has three leads.

The battery I bought had a white plastic connector containing all 3 wires. This doesn’t seem to fit with what’s inside the device.

How does the connector work on the one you recommend? Pull sideways off the board or prize off upwards?

I’ve just realised there are 3 wires!

Thanks.

If it was the parts staff at a Main Dealership that could not be bothered to help i would be posting off an Email to the Branches Dealer Principle pointing out how poor the After Sales Customer Service is and have a copy go to Skoda UK Customer Services letting them know.

Not that they are any better.

The problem is that we live in a throw-away society, and and the sat nav isn't designed for easy battery replacement.

As it happened, we also took the car in to investigate a problem with the radio. It's a problem with the antenna and we can't get anything on the radio at all. They charged us an hour's labour just to look at this, basically plugging in the diagnostics to find out what I knew already. Now they have emailed me to give them a review....

I must admit I'm tempted.

@Updown789 replaced the battery after I sourced it, from memory it was pull up and remove! Dan can you confirm?

Think it was a pull directly upwards off the board, little white plug with red, black and a white cable?

Thanks so much. I’ll give this a go!!
