SSE tariff enables electric vehicle owners to drive for free.. For a while.

Featured Replies

EV tariff is all smoke and mirrors. You need to weigh up your predicted electricity usage and see if it will actually save you any money.

Take 3.8 mi/kWh as typical usage. Say you drive 10k miles a year. That would be about 2600 kWh of electricity you'll charge overnight. So make sure the cheap or free overnight off-peak price for that 2600 kWh can cover any possible increase to your normal household usage.

Sometimes, even with free 2000 kWh, you may get stun by expensive standard price. For example, if you use your oven a lot during peak times.

My home electric comes out at £35 a month over 12 months.

About half the year under £1 a day.  3 year fixed SSE (Argos) tariff.  'Much cheapness'.

I am well used to paying from £11- £22 for petrol or diesel to be able to drive 100 miles.
