The Famous knocking noise from rear of Citigo

Featured Replies

Hi to all.

I have read many post on the famous knocking noise from the Citigo rear suspension etc.

Mine is a 2016 Monte Carlo and has been in main dealer on many occasions.

I have had the knocking noise for a few years as Skoda said there was no issue and nothing they could find.

It is now out of warranty and i thought sod it ill change the rear shocks myself. i went for aftermarket Bilstein shocks but the noise is still there.

I did change the rubber bushes as they all looked well.

Has anyone had this problem solved?

At the moment to find this noise i have no rear seats , trims ,tightened everything in sight and you guessed it. still there.

I have also been under the car nothing loose etc.

Any advise would be much appriciated.

Gavin

Being new to the forum, did not realise that this is a 'famous noise' with Citigos... Mine is, so far, utterly silent.

I'm sure you know how noises seem to come from one place, but often the source is a long way from  that - a bit like water leaks can be in a house...

I don't know what has been suggested so far, but I'd also consider checking exhaust, handbrake cable, fuel feed/return pipework, and filler tube to petrol tank. All of these I have noticed have been noise problems reported on forums of other vehicles I've had. Also rear wiper assemblies can get loose, as can the hatch locking mechanism. Have you checked rear wheel bearing play? (Long shot)...

Had this shortly after buying the car, was more of a rattle than a knock,n/s shock replaced noise gone about 9 months later it was back o/s shock replaced noise gone...car is now quiet at the rear.

In the good old days they wouldn't replace one shock always the pair.

Do you have a spare wheel with the jack as i found the jack handle can rattle so put a piece of cloth round it & make sure the spare is seated properly.

Back end seems sorted but it has now developed the "famous" clutch pedal click after 28000 miles.

Hi thanks for your reply’s. I have been thoroughly over the car and checked everything underneath. I got my other half to take me out and with my hands on the top mounts whilst she drove I’m pretty sure it’s coming from there. I have ordered some top mounts so fingers crossed. Thanks for all the suggestions as there is always something else to check. I will let you know the outcome.
whilst the interior is out it is going to be sound insulated which hopefully improves the road noise.

Any news on this famous knocking sound from the rear of our lovely citigo's?

Rear bump stop rubber on mine, replaced on 5 year extended warranty. Car now 6 years old , no longer under warranty, shame.
