Scala sat nav postcode search

Featured Replies

I have just taken possession of Scala SEL with satnav. I don’t seem to be able to do a postcode search. I have looked in the manual and online and any suggestions such as going to City and then postcode search is available don’t seem to apply to this system

I don’t know if it’s the same on your car as mine (Superb) but the “postcode” function is on the bottom left hand side of the screen where you’d input the city.

it took me absolutely ages to suss this out - hopefully it’ll be the same for you too.

good luck!

The SE L get the Amundsen headunit.

Once you've selected 'New Destination' you can simply begin typing the required postcode...

Thank you. I have now discovered this although when I type in any valid postcode it comes up as “off-road”.

Maybe you are parked in a off map position, my garage certainly is

One of the most frustrating things about the Scala Satnav is that when entering a postcode it is always identified as 'Off Road'. And it happens when parked on a public highway. Currently my garage are looking into this, and I have also spoken to Skoda Customer Services about it. Fingers crossed for a positive response!

Same as Kamiq i just typ the postcode in the search works every time

Hello, My Scala  SEL which I’ve just collected also comes up as “off road” when searching by post code, has anyone been able to resolve this ?
many thanks

Interesting how Skoda have arrived at this situation - one that I have never come across before on other satnavs.

I have referred the matter as unsatisfactory to Skoda Customer Services, who have asked my Skoda Dealership to look into it.

This is currently taking place, but not resolved yet.

Can all other Scala SEL owners please also raise the issue with Customer Services - together we might achieve a better outcome!

Derek

Thanks Derek, I will raise this with my dealership too.

thanks again

I have just bought a Scala SE L and discovered the lack of postcode search - seriously irritating as the built-in satnav was one of the main reasons I opted for the SE L rather than the SE. I have raised it with my dealer and with Koda customer services (as a complaint). I await their responses with interest.

Hi Ivor, if your Scala SEL satnav functions like mine you can enter a postcode but everytime it will display as 'Off Road'. This is the point I am in discussion with Skoda Customer Services and my Dealership.

Keep pressing the point! The more of us that raise the issue may result in an update!!!!!

Today my dealer and Skoda customer Services came up, separately, with the answer. Having typed in the postcode, you need to tap on the "Off Road" message. Not exactly intuitive but it then takes you into the map, offering a choice of routes. You select the one you want and press "Start" and away you go. I'd like to think that one of outstanding updates will replace the daft "Off Road" message with something sensible like "Start Navigation" but I won't hold my breath. But at least it does work!

Ivor

Yes, this is exactly how it works on my Scala satnav, BUT when you look at the method of recording/saving the postcode it appears on the navigation/information as simply two coordinates without any reference to the postcode that you first chose. So if you have made a number of 'postcode' journeys there is no way of knowing which one is which! Most folks would clearly wish to replace the stored coordinates with the postcode reference.

Today my Skoda dealership received an mail from Skoda Technical in Germany to advise that there is a known problem with the satnav software fitted to Scala and Karim models, and they are working on it. The problem causes the postcode to be recorded as number coordinates under a heading of 'Off Road', and also makes the voice messages incoherent. I am told that when it has been sorted I will be asked to visit the dealership for a software update. No mention of how long this will be!

If that was not enough to deal with as I was driving home from the garage may satnav screen switched itself off, about every four minutes, remained off for 10 seconds, and then came back to life. So back to the garage where the master technician could not resolve it so sent another e-mail to Skoda Technical in Germany, and he is awaiting a response - meanwhile my Scala remains 'on holiday' at the dealership!

Derek

Same problem with my Satnav Postcodes also on many occasions it cannot say the word road correctly it abbreviates it to rd. Many place names are beyond it and she comes up with some at times funny concoctions.  I guess it will be going back yo Skoda soon.

Hi. Recently bought a used 2020 Scala SEL. I have the same issues as described above whereby the Amunsen wont accept postcodes, there is no postcode button bottom left (as per my Octavia) and any postcodes entered/saved are off-road and are coordinates.

Has anyone succeeded in getting an update so that these problems are solved so that postcodes can be easily input and saved/shown in the recencent destinations list?

Thanks, Kevin

PS - my car is the Octavia (hence the header shows this) but the Scala is my wife's car.
