Help with OBDeleven newby

Featured Replies

Hi..

Yesterday I plugged my new OBDeleven for the first time.

I was quite surprised to find 3 fault codes, taking under consideration the car is just 1 year 😕

Is there anything to be concerned about?

Engine Control Module 1 - Databus error value received - U112300 - Intermittent

Dash Board - Key - No Signal - B104B31 - Intermittent

Dash Board - Key - Implausible signal - B104C29 - Intermittent

Other than that, car seems fine.

Thanks!

Juan

Try erasing them. Restart the car and see if they reappear.

Have a look at the thread that I started where I have a car with an electronic nervous breakdown.

Drove in to work today and it's saying that my keys battery is low. Really? I bought two new batteries for it and tested them both are fine, yet it says that the battery is low, over voltage has reappeared, along with multiple infotainment system failures.

It goes in next week for two days rectification work. OBD11 shows that there's loads of software (firmware) updates for the car, everything from braking, air con, wheel dampening and so on, so I'll be asking for those to be done (upgraded).

Thanks, I'm reading your thread.

I'm also wondering if these faults are battery related... Some time ago I installed a dash cam with parking mode which is supposed to switch off if battery goes below 12.2V, which is the highest possible setting, but I'm wondering if it's not high enough.. One of the consequences of this is that the start/stop feature is most of the time disabled. Not that I care too much about the start/stop feature, but I'm wondering if that <12.2V battery issue may be affecting other systems..

Rather strangely the start stop system is functioning perfectly, it's only when I do scans that I have found numerous faults with systems that aren't intrinsically related to each other.

I cannot believe that oil sensor failure (high temperature) after just 2 mins running is either feasible and/or genuine.

The more worrying one is the doors and tonight when I returned to the car it was unlocked, no error tones to say that the alarm has activated or the car had been tampered with. Just unlocked, yet I know that it was when I left it because I always check the rear doors don't (didn't) open.

Infotainment system is still riddled with errors sporadic failures, no communication errors. Gateway is now getting more errors and the over voltage issue which is normally resolved by removing the phone charger from the 12v aka lighter socket,  now it's there full time.

Ok, I have started manually measuring the battery level with a multimeter. As I was suspecting battery level is below 12.2V. It's at 11.87V. I'm guessing that's low enough for the computer to switch off start/stop, but I'm not sure.. perhaps somebody knows what is "low" for Octavia 3 FL?

Anyway, I'm going to charge the battery as much as I can to enable back the start/stop feature, scan again for fault codes and monitor the battery level more often.

Perhaps there is something wrong with the dash cam not cutting down the power at 12.2V (it's a mio smart box 2)

Now the car battery is at around 12.23V and there are 0 fault codes, so perhaps some of the electronics are no too tolerant to voltage fluctuations.

If I turn the key half way, start/stop system reports it's active. When I turn on the ignition, the start/stop system is disabled due to "power consumption is high" (dash cam is disconnected).

I'll keep digging.

Might be some other system draining it, air con, heating, heated mirrors or seats.

You could get the battery checked out to see if it has a duff cell in it.

Most likely, the only thing draining the battery was the dash cam while on parking mode, which was supposed to shutdown after crossing the 12.2V threshold (was it really?).

I have completely disconnected the dash cam and after a night of battery charging the start/stop system is back again engaged (hooray).

Multimeter reads ~12.2-3 V, which is about 50% of the battery capacity, so now I need to figure out how to bring it to full charge (~ 12.6V) or get it checked out as you said.

Either way, I suspect the culprit was on the dash cam draining the battery beyond the 12.2V.

I'm having infotainment issues with my new VRs and was wondering if there are any issues with removing the battery overnight to charge it, any procedure to follow..?

Cheers

I would try with one of those inexpensive smart battery charger, like  this

Leave it charging overnight (no need to disconnect battery from the car), and check in the morning

By the way, if you have disconnected the battery from the car, sometimes that causes problem with the electronics, requiring some re-coding. It happened to me with an electronic window.

If the battery charging does not help, I would check with the dealer/service

Cheers
