Hesitation on acceleration

Featured Replies

Hey all I'm new to the forum, hoping to get some help/suggestions.  2012 superb 2.0D 88k recently as in last few weeks has been randomly hesitating on acceleration after gear changes, juddering on acceleration and when it does this can hear a rattle which is louder than your normal disel engine rattle.  It's not always after a gear change can sometimes just start to judder as if its not getting fuel or something when driving along.  Othewise its drives, starts, idles and accelerates normally.  Had a diagnostic scan done on the car which has shown 2 codes P0473 - exhaust pressure sensor signal too high or incorrect basic setting adaptation and P0671 - Cylinder 1 glow plug circuit electrical fault implausible signal.

Had a google on these faults but can't see anything describing the symptons my car is getting.

Anyone have any further suggestions?

Cheers!

It looks like your exhaust pressure sensor is giving a false output.

This might be triggering a DPF regen & causing the judder.

Check the rubber pipes from this sensor to the DPF & make sure they are secure & no damage to the rubber pipes.

Also check the electrical connector for any corrosion of the pins & no water in there.

If all check out ok & the problem persists, will probably need the sensor replacing.

The No1 glow plug looks like it needs replacing, but it won't be causing the hesitation.

The first task here is to remedy the known faults, the exhaust pressure sensor and glowplug (for the sake of £15 each I'd do all four).

Once these are resolved, and if the issue persists, then further and potentially more costly exploration can begin.

As above, my money is on the sensor, these are a known weak point and if not resolved can quickly lead to more complicated and expensive faults.

Thanks guys, I've been having a read up on fixing/replacing the sensor myself seems like a cheap part to get done.  Has anyone had any experience with calibrating the new sensor or best to take it somewhere you think?
