Side light bulb removal

Featured Replies

Hi Guys I need to change my side driver side side light bulb,  I undone the clips and the cover still wont come off, tried a screwdriver to give it a helping hand but still wont come off.

Is there something am missing like a screw/bolt that needs undoing as well as the clips?

another thing I would like to know is the headlight bulb with the main/high beam bulb or are they separate bulbs as the headlights seem like a really white bright colour and the high beams seems more orangey colour

thanks for any help

Have you removed the headlight from the car?

If not it's a 30 second job and makes changing a bulb a doodle.

The back cover is then just held on with the two metal brackets.

Cheers mate, That makes life easier dont it, no not bought the bulbs yet as I wanted to change the high beam bulbs to a bright white instead of the warm light that's in there, my headlights are nice and bright white not sure which bulbs they are but will keep them

Getting the Sidelight Capsule bulbs out can be a real PITA! It's a pushfit housing but nothing to grip onto to pull it out apart from the wires (don't pull these).  I think I used a coffee shop wooden stirrer and some long nose pliers with a good amount of cussing

Are they not a 1/4 turn twist-fit.   ??????????

Long time since I fitted one though but do seem to remember using long nose pliers too.........

No, I don't think so. That's why I used the coffee stirrers as I think there is a small plastic barb that needs depressing to extract the holder.

Been a long time since i changed the bulb too - which shows they are reliable and thank God don't need doing often!

Changed all my lights now to better quality ones and to be honest it was quite an easy job, side lights just need a gentle tug with some bull nose pliers, not done the fog lights as I cant get under the car with my gut lol

😂

To access the fog lights, pull the adjacent small grille section straight forward and off (clip fastening).

The fog lights are secured by a couple of screws.

No need to limbo dance under the car.

Thanks Mic

@MicMac And they (adjacent small grille's) were surprisingly easy to remove on mine, very recently, despite what others have mentioned re difficulty about removing their own....

And I have had the car nine years now and I have never removed them before...
