2011 Skoda Octavia SE TSI 1.2 Automatic

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I am new to Skoda and new to this forum I am looking for some advice I recently brought a 2011 Skoda Octavia SE TSI 1.2 Automatic at auction. I was told that it needs a new gear box as you can see from the photo enclosed the part that should be under the car is just left loose on top of the engine and leaking fluid. This is a great shame as there is nothing wrong with the car body work wise and it is very clean for 114023 miles. I did put it up on Ebay for spares or repair but I am in two minds what to do any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Kieren

The only part I can see vaguely conforming to that description is the battery box cover; 10s to close it.

There is fluid Leaking from this part in the photo

Sounds like you need to grab a diagnostic lead and a workshop manual to figure out what's been messed with. You can then decide if it's worth fixing or not :)

I had a guy do a diagnostic check on it and he told me gear box problem with gear 6 to 7 ?

Leak from motronics housing, dq200 indicates the common failure of the hydraulic pressure accumulator (cracked).

Repairable with new accumulator.

See this thread. Other videos are on YouTube showing repair procedure.

Thank you would this stop it from driving ?

Yes, because the accumulator is leaking, it cannot build up enough pressure to operate the clutches.

It would also throw up a P17BF or possibly  P189C error code on diagnostics.

If you bother to actually watch the video and many others on youtube you might learn something useful about your dsg box and not have us holding your hand.

That bit you have circled looks like the mechatronic unit which controls the gear selection on the DSG gearbox. Not a cheap part to replace sadly.

It is a shame as it is a really nice car as I said I have it up on Ebay spares or repair but in two minds to keep it or sell it I have been helped alot by the members today and feel better about it as now I know just got to think what to do next.

The mechatronic unit is probably £1200 or more plus fitting new from Skoda so depends if you can find someone to supply and fit that unit for a reasonable price, perhaps second hand or reconditioned.

Depends on how much you paid for the car in the first place as well of course and also what else might be wrong with the car or its components.

That is very true I paid £1300 for the car but you never know what else might give up later on or go wrong I will look into second hand or reconditioned parts.

Strange for the previous owner to tint the rear lights, usually reserved for boy racers!

A mechatronics failure will often result in a 'spares or repair' listing on eBay.

Yes I thought the same but I am no boy racer lol I have listed it on eBay.

I hope that you prove me wrong but I dont think you will have any interest at that fixed price.

On the other hand you have just turned away 35 potential purchasers.

I was sick of people offering silly money and time wasting I understand it will cost but to repair I will see what happens

There is a Skoda forum called BRISKODA.

You can advertise there for a few quid and you might find someone interested in your car.
