Disintegrated dip stick and flashing oil light

Featured Replies

After reading many threads on several forums I think I need to change the oil pickup/strainer on my MK1 as the dipstick fell to bits down the tube and I got the dreaded oil warning light up😞 is this a hard job? where is the best place to get the parts? I'm not too bad with the spanners but don't have access to a ramp so it will have to be off axle stands on the drive

Thanks for any help advice

It's a lot more comfortable with a lift; do you know a garage that will let you use one of their's for a tenner in the coffee swindle?

I used to 😞 I don't wanna drive it far, it runs for about 5 mins then the red light of doom appears

well thanks to some part numbers found in these forum pages I have some bits on order from Skoda Chippenham that could be here tomorrow, so guess what I'll be doing in the next couple of days …...

Mine done exactly the same, luckily it was a couple days before I was booked in for a refurb turbo, so got it done at the same time

Well that's that all done 🙂 not too bad a job, don't want to have to do it again tho.I did struggle a little as I have a frozen shoulder..... New pickup and gauze, new dip stick, new sticky stuff round the sump and yeah no leaks yet.
