Replacement xenon bulbs

Featured Replies

I’d be interested to hear and see whether anyone has found genuinely good replacement bulbs for the xenons on the VRS in particular in the MK2 FL.

i have been looking at the osram night breaker laser DS2 bulb which have some good reviews and boast 200% better light.

Has anyone tried them or does anyone have any experience of any other bulb.

With my car coming up to 10 years old I’m finding the bulbs a little duller

The Nightbreaker Laser bulbs are very good but for a mk2FL Octavia you'll want D1S

Oh  great thanks that’s interesting when I put the reg and make and model in some well known bulb websites they’ve come up as D2S

This is for a mk2 face lift octavia VRs which has Xenon headlights.

A 2008 scout will be vastly different so maybe Google’s may hello if you can’t get an answer off the back on my post?

H1/H7 sound right to me though

One of 'dip' headlamps bulbs has gone in my 2008 Scout. I'd like to replace it (and the other one) with brighter bulbs. Website showing H1 and H7 (and reading above I see D1S mentioned). These fit? https://www.powerbulbs.com/product/osram-xenarc-classic-d1s-single

Thanks, Jonathan

Do you have xenon or halogen headlights? I think on the pre facelift the halogen and xenon lamp units are identical from the outside, a couple of ways to tell which you have are that the xenon lamp unit will have a ballast attached to the back of it, and there will not be a range adjustment switch in the cabin

The xenon unit uses a D1S for dipped beam and the halogen unit uses a H7 for dipped beam. Both types use a H1 for high beam

Nick, thanks ever so much. Can't believe my lights are Xenon, they are too feeble for that :O)   [and no range adjustment inside, only angle]   …I shall so get myself the best H7's I can find (and get my garage people to fit them. I broke something last time I tried!).

Changing the angle changes the range. Xenons have automatic levelling so there is no adjustment switch inside
