Vrs braking while hitting a bump in the road

Featured Replies

Was out today in the black beast aka Fabia vrs came into a roundabout while braking to slow down and hit a bump in the road and brake peddle went to the floor and had no brakes for a split second. I Was pretty lucky the guy infront of me drove out of the roundabout while that happened if he didn’t move would of been expensive fix on his brand new merc lol.

on my second vrs at the moment owned a silver one  for 4 years now onto a black one with more tasty mods done to it but has happened to me one or twice before in my old  vrs. Any suggestions guys it’s abit of butt clinching moment when it happens 😂

Bit of a random stab but - I'm wondering if you've got the suspension set too harsh and a wheel skipped on the bump, or the load compensator jumped and freed an air bubble.

Either way, get the car up in the air and check the brake lines end to end for a leak and do a rebleed all around.

Definitely wouldn't drive it until it's fixed.

The ABS is kicking in then you go and press the pedal even harder.

As stated one of the wheels has skipped on a bump while you're braking, you need to drive round the problem by momentarily releasing the brakes so the ABS stops actuating, then reapplying them.

The same thing can happen on wet drain covers, patches of ice, big puddles etc.

Learn to drive round the ABS.

That sounds more likely to be fair.

...but you definitely shouldn't drive it until the problem is fixed, especially since the problem is you! 😂
