Hi there! i'm new to this forum and i really enjoy reading all the different threads here!

 

Anyways i'm just about to start tearing down my car so i can change my egr valve.

My question is if there's any good video or guide on the change? I've search but

haven't found any on my car specifically.

Feels like i'll be spending some time under my car and any help would really cut down the hours :D.

 

Just to losen the exhaust from the turbo feels tricky and from there it's a long run 😛

 

Any help is really appreciated!

The workshop said it was the egr that was leaking and wanted 25000sek for the job. Was just about to take off the egr when i saw that one bolt was missing from the header and to me it looks like there's where the leakingproblem is. What do you guys think?

Try more like 4 bolts. I'm not saying this is the problem but that's how many I can see missing in that picture!

Ye well those on the egr is not the problem 😁

It would be helpfull if you specified what was supposed to be leaking, oil, water, exhaust gases?

 

Whether it was you that noticed the leak and the garage simply saying "it must be the EGR" or the garage reporting to you that your EGR was leaking.

 

If the answer to the above is exhaust gases then yes, the manifold leak would be my favorite and certainly the cheapets and easiest to remedy.

Sorry about not making that clear. It's exhaust gases that is leaking and you only notice it when you strand still with the car. The garage just asumed it was the egr valve i guess quz it's rather common. 

Definitely replace the stud and check, if there is still a leak it could be the gasket is burned.

 

Minor manifold leaks usually only manifest themselves and are audible when running under load, driving up a hill on full throttle etc not at tickover.

 

In any case dont rush to replace the expensive bit till you are sure.

I'll order the gasket and fix the stud first then. Hopefully it'll fix the gas leakage. Thing is that it's so much work to tear everything apart 😋

Fixed the stud and didn't change the header gasket (big mistake). So i've taken everything apart once again and it seems i'm going to have

to remove the cylinder head to change the header gasket?. 

My question is if there's any guide on how to get the timings right (for the cam/valves if the engine is in TDC).

You shouldn't have to pull the head but you may have to remove the inlet manifold in order to get to the exhaust/turbo manifold.

 

I would have thought just replacing the missing stud would do for that. If still leaking there try a smear of exhaust putty over the moon and let carbon fill the inside.

I actually drilled the hole do deep for the exhaust header so this is why i pulled the head( to embarrased to tell earlier) 😋
