2020 S3 L&K Central Passenger Seat Adjuster Discontinued?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I’m considering getting a new Superb (probably L&K TSI 190) this year. I currently drive a 2017 BMW 340i Touring, so yes, there’ll be some things I’ll be excited about in the proposed replacement car (hill hold, ACC, boot space, etc) others perhaps less so. But it seems to tick more of my boxes for this point in my life. 🙂

Anyway, so I’ll probably have loads of questions coming up, but my first is this: The L&K supposedly comes, according to all Skoda’s literature, with electric front seats (both) with memory, lumbar etc. However, what about the electric adjustment on the inside of the passenger seat, which allows the driver or rear passengers to move it? Older pre-facelift cars are clearly pictured with this, but all new 2019 / 20 L&Ks I’ve seen for sale online don’t seem to (by zooming in photos), replaced with what appears to be a leather phone cubbyhole pocket. The literature still says it is standard on cars with electric seats, and SEL cars still seem to have it, but not L&K. I emailed ŠKODA UK & they said to ask a dealer, but they didn’t know either. I can’t see it as a configurator option either.

Anybody know if this is still there, looks different, has moved or if it’s another quietly-retired function to save on costs? Hardly a deal breaker of course, but I think it would be useful.  🙂

Cheers

It certainly wasn't standard fit (at least not on my MY18 L&K) but I can't remember if it was an optional extra or not.

Interesting. I’ve never seen an option for it on either the current or last year’s configurator. I thought all L&Ks I’d ever seen had it.

On the current pricing brochure it states this as standard only on the L&K (Page 26)  - “Electrically adjustable front seats. Includes front passenger seat control (not on SportLine Plus) and lumbar support.” But nowhere to be seen on any of the new build cars.

The passenger seat does have the controls but on the door side of the seat at bum level. I thought you were talking about the controls in  which a rear seat passenger could operate the front passenger seat?

That description may just refer to the elec operation of the passenger seat. There are lots of easy to misunderstand dstails in brochures etc

The ability to control was always standard on the L&K. I hink I recall the driver side control was always extra as part of a package.

True, it could be ambiguous, but yes the one above the central armrest is the one I’m talking about. I’d find it quite useful to be able to move it from the driver’s seat. If you search for & look at any new L&K for sale, where pictured, the control in the middle of the car for the passenger seat is clearly no longer there. 🥺

I have checked the 2015 and 2017 brochures and this function is clearly identified as a £75 option on all models except the base S and Sportline. It is listed as an option for a rtear passenger to be able to adjust the passenger seat from the right side as they would look at it. I am now sure that this is the function that you are talking about.

I cant say whether it was added as included at a later date than the 2017 brochure but it obviously wasn't 'removed' as you questioned.

A £75 option, eh? That is interesting, I’ve only been looking in the last year or so, obviously, but I’ve never seen it as an option. It seems to have disappeared from the L&K in that case.

And yes, to clarify I’m talking about the rear passenger ‘limo’ control of the front passenger seat as pictured here (I think this car is a 2019 SEL).

Any 2020 L&K owners out there yet?

Boo. That’s a shame. Maybe as they market it more as a family car than a budget limo in this country, they consider that parents would rather the children didn’t have the ability to move their seat from the back... or it’s just a cost saver they think not many people will notice or miss. Shame, I’d definitely pay £75 for it if it was an option.

Any 2020 SEL owners able to confirm if they still have it? 🙂

Rob

2020 non-L&K with leather/alcantara seats and the controls are there.

I asked the very same question the other day... I couldn’t find any 19/20 L&K models with it present, but could as stated earlier find a few examples of it on the SE-L executive models....

Steve :)
