intermittent windows

Featured Replies

Hi I have a mk1 vrs SE and my windows currently have an intermittent problem, in winter they work less of the time and i think it may have something to do with the leak on my drivers side footwell and drivers side passenger footwell, does anyone have any ideas on the cause of these? the garage think the windows is the convenience ECU which is a £270 part + fitting which I'm hesitant to it being the cause of the windows anyway.

The window control unit is part of the right hand side motor assembly so your garage are mentally defective if they think replacing the cabin comfort module will help.

Well yes. How about trying to be at least a bit more polite to @sepulchrave who's told you, correctly, that your garage are probably talking through their anal sphincter?

The most likely failures are in the driver's door to A-pillar coupling and/or the multiplug in the driver's door. Frankly, unless it's their first day on the job (ever, not just at this garage), I'd expect any time-served mechanic to know this.

It saddens me that you do not see any value in the accurate information I have freely given you rather than the inaccurate information you are being charged for.

Good luck with your problems, try and remember this is a self-help forum, not soshul meedyah.

Fix the door carrier leaks and the electrical problems may just go away.

Rear doors usually leak most, so start there.

already checked that but thanks, as for the other guy admittedly i retaliated at first but I'm not interested in people making useless posts and trying to spark arguments as Id already said i was hesitant to go with what that garage said, if he had just agreed or given a suggestion id wouldn't have been bothered but what the point in just calling  someone out to make yourself sound smart? time wasting, childish

Think I've got enough to go on here lads as I'm going to re do the seals anyway thanks adios

Except I told you it was the drivers side lift motor at fault, not the convenience module.

The misunderstanding is yours, not mine, I wasn't rude to you I was rude about the garage you took it to.

Fix it yourself and jog on.

@joevrsseguy I think you have totally misread what is valuable information from long standing and well respected members. Remember there is a wealth of information ready to be given to you but treating people in a disrespectful manner doesn't aid your cause.

In saying all that, I'm sure there will still be ongoing help available as that's the way we roll!
