Hi while working in my mk 111 octavia last night an error warning in red came up on dash,

12 volt battery not charging... I called the AA.. guy put it on his computer and said its my

alternator, I started it this morning... No warning on dash even with headlights on, blower and

heated rear screen.. could just be Gremlins????? Thank in advance for any input.

car is octavia 1.6 tdi diesel ......................

More to the point, did the battery light come on when you switched the ignition on, and go out when you started the engine? If not you almost certainly have an alternator control wire loose.

Thanks for that Ken.. there is no battery light when the ignition is on or when running.

But the red triangle warning light came on with battery error when I went out to the shop??
