2018 Fabia Monte Carlo opinions please

Featured Replies

My Leon lease is due to go back at the end of March, and I've found a 2018/67 plate Fabia in a local garage.

It's the 1.0 tsi 108bhp, just wondering if there were any common problems to be aware of?

I'll worry about the 190bhp drop in power at a later date...

No common problems being reported in the Fabia MK3 section.

I have the estate version and, after two Yeti, I was resigned to mediocre performance.

BUT it goes like excrement off a shovel, it handles well and pulls well the seats are

comfortable and hold you firmly. Downside crappy lights compared to the Yeti.

Other similar models in the VW group have 115 bhp and sometimes even more bhp.

Thanks for the replies, I test drove it, and whilst it was a nice nippy little car, I've decided to stick with automatic for now.

I’ve got a 2018 Monte Carlo combi with the 81kw engine. Manual gearbox. It’s fine in my opinion. It’s not an Audi or a porsche bit that’s normal for the money they cost. I wouldn’t buy it ahain if I could go back in time. I hate the cheaply made interior that cracks and squeeks around every corner and over every bump. What I also don’t like is the sluggish engine. Even though it looks fast, it really isn’t. The manual gearbox requires you to shift very fast in order for the turbo not to slow down too much. I have the sporty suspension aswell and really don’t like how it still rolls in corners. What I would miss in another non-skoda car is the lovely load-cover and the washing nozzle at the reversing camera. Those are genius.

It's certainly no worse than the lower end offerings from other manufacturers.

Skoda is not a premium brand, if you want it nice, buy an A1 instead.

Sure, I got what I paid for. I think that getting the automatic would greatly improve the way it drives. The shifts are so smooth and the turbo never loses momentum as you accelerate.

You’ll be bored to death if you lose that much hp.
