Citigo phone mount USB power supply!

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone. I hope someone can answer this question. When I place my Garmin Nuvi sat nav in the dash holder and power it up in the mounts USB socket with various cables including the Garmin one the Nav just goes into charge/data connection mode and will not display maps! Although when I use the same cable into a USB adapter from the cigarette lighter socket it displays the maps normally? Any ideas? The reason I ask is that with a short cable it would be neater and also free up the cig socket.

The USB socket can only supply a very limited current, sounds like this isn't sufficient to power up your Garmin only charge it (slowly).

I'm not familiar with Citigo.

But I'm guessing that usb port is connected with the stereo?

In that case I think the stereo is treating it like a flash storage that makes the gps go in to charge/data-connection.

To get around this you need to find a usb cable with no data connection.

Google "usb micro charge only" or "usb micro no data"

And i think you'll find something.

(If it's micro usb)

If you're a little handy you could even mod a cable to be "charge only

Cheer Matt. It's a usb A to usb b cable in question. What I've now done is spliced the cable and cut the 2 data wires (green and white) it now does a weird thing. It initially trys to load maps the goes into charge mode for about 10 seconds then displays maps normally and shows it charging. So I think that's good enough for me.
