Skoda Karoq SEL not starting up!

Featured Replies

Hi All,

This is my first post but avid reader.

Today I was unable to get into my Skoda (18 plate) with keyless entry, however, managed to find key hole to open the door and was welcomed with the alarm! I was unable to find out how to bypass the stop/start button but have seen a link in which the key fob can be pushed into the start/stop button. The dashboard came up with a message to say place your keys somewhere but didn’t get to see full message.

Unfortunately, as I returned to the vehicle with my spare key the gates at the premises were locked! I managed to get into the premises to test whether the spare key would open the car, though, that didn’t work either.

Does anyone have any ideas why this has happened? I will be having to go first thing in the morning to test the above and hopefully it will work but I am anxious that this may be a more serious issue!

many thanks

Welcome .

Sorry no idea.

Are you calling Skoda Assist if no joy and getting someone out to you?

I managed to get vehicle back home by pressing the fob onto start stop but neither of the fob keys are locking/unlocking the vehicle and everytime I do it via lock cylinder the alarm sets off. The dashboard came up with the EPC and Engine Light which disappeared when engine started.

The Garage have said that they can’t have a look at it till Wednesday but at least I can drive vehicle.

I didn’t think about Skoda Assist - is it worth giving them a call in the interim?

The key batteries will have died, there is another post about this. They only last about 18 months.

Batteries in both the main key and spare fail because even if a key isn't used it is still transmitting.

It was a change of battery that worked - cannot believe it!! Strange it didn’t work with the other battery !!

KESSY is very power hungry, it is worth carrying a couple of the spare button cells in the car.

Glad you got it sorted.  Interestingly the batteries in both the main and spare keys of my MX5 also failed at the same time, however they had lasted 5 years and I did get a warning red light. Unlike the 18 months on the Karoq and no warning until it had actually failed.

Thank you for everyone’s responses! Spare batteries are stored in the car now!!
