Emphasis/interpretation in the MOT test can be different in NI. You're best off asking the LVLO or VRO or Coleraine.

If you take the rears out completely, you should make a cushion/floor to cover the depression left. Sound deaden the hell out of it with bitumastic sheets and stick a whole load of sound deadening BAF on top of it. Also do the boot floor and rear arches behind the boot carpet trim.

In your situation I would simply remove the seat squabs and headrests leaving the rear seat backs folded flat as this will give you a flat loading area while allowing the front seats to slide back fully. Then it's ten minutes work once a year to put them back in for the test.

It's ten minutes to take the lot out once you've figured out how to push the clip thing over with a screwdriver.

I asked the garage that did my MOT and was told that they'd just make a note to the effect that 'no seats fitted to rear'.

I did put them in for the test though.

The biggest problem is where to store them when they are out.

I normally have the bases out and the backs down on mine, it's just about a flat floor that way. If there's nothing covering the metal under the seats it gets a bit noisy.

It's a 2 layer flat though, with the backs in. Take the backs out and there's a scoopy depression and the bracket for the rear seat lower mounts. Project would be to make a flat floor replacement that still allows access to the spare and has many little storage cubbies.

So, basically a Praktik hatch?
