read parking sensor current values

Featured Replies

Does VCDS allow user to read current distance values from individual parking sensors? I know quite a few parameters can be read from OBD2 (quite a long list can be found on wikipedia), but parking sensor data is not there.

Or to be more generic - is there a list somewhere about what VCDS can do (like full menu tree dump)?

It's not really down to VCDS what it can and can't do, it's dependant on what the module in the car supports.

Most modules will support 'measuring blocks' or 'advanced measuring blocks', if the parking sensor module has measuring blocks showing the distance then VCDS should be able to show you this information.

Thanks a lot for the reply. Are we talking about Parking Assistant Control Unit (eg. 5QA919298D that I have in my car)? If so, does anyone know if this one supports measuring blocks? If not, which control unit we might be talking about?

I was taking the more generic approach.

In regards to your 5QA919298D module, you'd need to find someone with VCDS and access to the module to confirm what it supports and which, if any, measuring blocks are present.

Where are you based? Assuming it's fitted in your car, you might find a local member with VCDS is happy to take a look for you.

I get the parking sensors are rather common beasts (even if not necessarily this exact module) so I was hoping someone could check on their own car.

I am located in Kraków, Poland - I had a look at map and I don't see anyone from Poland with VCDS on this forum unfortunately.

I have not looked at an Octavia, but had to replace one PDC sensor on my daughter's Fabia 2009. VCDS will display the distance to objects, if this is what you are asking. There are plenty of other parameters you can view.
