Unexpected item in the parts catalogue

Browsing for something else yesterday I came across this item, a 'relay' for the front wipers of a Mk1 Fabia https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/fabia/fab/2005-453/9/955-955000/#15

If I google the part number I can find it for sale, looking like this:

The appearance of that in the ETKA sketch and in the photo is of something that is a 'repair part' rather than an original part, but no such comments in the catalogue.

Anyone ever seen such a thing? @Tech1e?

It appears to have a plug that would connect to the motor, another connector that the loom would plug into, and a third that looks like an independent single wire power feed?

I could possibly see this as a workaround if the relay that's supposed to do the job, soldered inside the Onboard Supply Control Unit, failed in such a way that it still switched and could supply a voltage signal on the original wiring, but couldn't supply enough current through its contacts to do the job properly?

For heated washer jets?

Don't think so, but nice idea.

They are listed as an option so they'd need power from somewhere.

And ground... would be two 2-way connectors long enough to reach the jets if it were for that.

That red wire is thick, like you'd want for supplying the wiper motor, not like you'd need for heated washers.

How's your Russian?

From what I can make out, it's a repair relay for a fault on the speed selection.

I know a man in Moscow who's keen on his VW's, I'll ask him to watch it and let me know!

Found it in the wiring diagrams eventually.

I've yet to work out why, but it's only present in one very specific model of Mk1 Fabia - 1.4/50kW with cruise control system without ABS.

It's known as J368 in the wiring diagrams, with two 4-way connectors and one 1-way, matching the pic.

I'll try and work out why it might be required on just that model and feed back if I can figure it out.
