Reversing Camera Restrofit

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm looking for the correct part number for a retrofit reversing camera for a Skoda Superb 2.0 Estate DSG SE Technology.  I know I want the high line version and an associated wiring loom to connect to the Columbus 9.2" Touchscreen System.

I've been told lots of different information from different people so here are my questions which I hope pople can give a definative answer for...

1) What camera so I need for the highline bversion - 5NA827566, 5NA827566D, 5NA827566H or 3V0054634A? They all look the same and look to be the same size so what is the difference?   One person said the handle was different on the D and H model and I need the H

2) If the camera is from a different vehicle, does it contain firmware that have to be reflashed?

3) Does the camera contain settings that need to be confifured via VCDS or is the camera dumb and it just gets controlled via paramters entered into the Columbus via VCDS?

4) I have seen instructions for calibration. What will happens if I do not calibrate, especially if the camera is not from a Skoda, but say a Tiguan? WIll it just be out a little, but not significantly out?

5) As well as connecting to the Nav unit, what other connections are required? The wiring loom has a number of bare ends that I presume require 12v, ground, reverse etc?

6) Does calibration take place within VCDS?  I can make the template instead of paying 200 quid for one.

7) Can I obtain VCDS software and use a generic cable, or would you only recommend using an approved interface?

8) Anyone ever used ODBeleven instead of VCDS and is it easy to use and will it do everything I need it to?

9) Does anyone have end to end instructions for the fitting which is in English?

Help as it is all very confusing....

+1 on this. I've bought a used camera (3V0827566G) and my car has a Columbus system.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram? Do I really need to wire all the way to the Columbus unit or is there some wiring already in the existing harness?

thanks

Mike

I need a little bit of extra advice.  I addition to the camera feed wires and CAN +/-, I need to take a 12v feed for the camera.  Where is the best place to take this from in my Skoda Superb Estate Mk3 (2016)?

Should I take it from:

The back of the Multimedia unit? I can splice into the 12v and Ground (I'm there anyway for the camera feed)

12v Socket in boot?

The reversing light (so the camera is only on when the reverse gear is selected?

Rear wiper motor?

Somewhere else?

I’m tempted to take it from the reversing light, but I’m not sure if the multimedia system will error if the camera is not on, or if there will be a delay.  But if I take it from an accessory live, then the camera will surely be on all the time, even when not in use?

Any advice would really be appreciated.

if You route all the wires to the sat/nav unit, it is common to add 2 power wires and take the power from the satnav quadlock

Thanks. That's what I did for 12v. Took ground from bolt near side door
