Canbus wiring.

Featured Replies

Octavia mk2 vRS 2006. I would like to access the Canbus hi (Orange Green trace) and lo (Orange Brown trace) wires. The instructions which I  have suggest that the wires can be accessed via the loom to/from the wiper and indicators. I was wondering if there is an easier place to get to the right cables? I need these wires in order to operate some drive lights with the main beam. Also I would like to put a cable through the bulkhead to operate the light relay, I have been thinking of passing the wire through the bonnet cable access point. Thanks in advance for any help offered.

You really want to drive an auxiliary headlight relay from the canbus and not the main beam lights?

Do you have some sort of relay that can decode the canbus signals and will only react to the main beam input signal to the BCM?

Messing around with the Canbus comms could get you a world or grief.

Reading it again where you speak of operating the relay from inside the cabin are you thinking that you will be picking up the power to operate the driving lights from the canbus high or low lines? If so then I would respectfully suggest that you have either been misinformed or have misunderstood.

Hello J.R.

Thanks for your reply.

The CANM8 was supplied by CANNECT and its for a Skoda Octavia II 2004 - 2013 specifically for HIGHBEAM connections.

The CANM8 box relay has 5 wires (Canbus hi (Orange Green trace) and lo (Orange Brown trace) wires) above plus a Positive fused feed and Negative earth plus the feed to operate the switch for the lights which would in order activate the relay to turn the lights on (hopefully).

I understand what you say about using the main beam to operate the relay up front but I want to be easily able to separately switch the Auxillary lights on and off inside the car. i suppose that I could run a cable to and from the Main beam connection In and out of the car to the switch? That said getting through the bulkhead looks to be a bit of a pain.
