Passed which is always a relief,one advisory of a misty shock (I think they called it). Is it anything to be overly worried about?

Nothing to worry about.  Something that can happen and you keep an eye on and see if others also have misting.

There was a story going round that a well known tyre fitter used to spray the shocks with oil then point it out to the customer...

That doesn't surprise me.
