Amundsen sat nav system + DAB

Featured Replies

Good Morning,

I have a 15yr old Fabia but back injuries are causing me to change my vehicle :o(.

I am new to Yeti's so please excuse my ignorance if this seems like a basic question.

I am purchasing a used 65 Reg Yeti with Amundsen sat nav system + DAB, having had a quick look online I am confused as to if this should have the SatNav installed , or if it is just the capability for it to be installed.

Also should there be a CD player in the glovebox as the manual I have seen online has one included.

Thank you

Confusingly Skoda re-uses the names for the infotainment systems as in 'Amundsen', 'Columbus', 'Swing' etc. If you have an Amundsen unit in a Yeti then yes, it does have SatNav, however this runs from a special SD card -so you need to make sure that this is present or else it won't work. All of the infotainment units in the Yeti are self contained and the CD player slot will be in the same unit as the screen and there will be no additional components in the glove-box

Thank you

is the Amundsen an Amundsen plus(+) if yes it does with a hard drive integral, you just use an sd card to update the maps, but caution any updates later than version 9 as they do not run smoothly, regularly dropping out. If just an Amundsen no it doesn't!

65 plate is the same as mine, so there should be 2 SD card holes in the unit; one is for a music card the other is the mapping card. As Tony says this can be updated from the portal but there does seem to be problems with that. There are threads on here on a work-around for that.
There is no CD player anywhere.

The latest maps on the Portal are working OK.

Use the 2016 VW touran map from the vw site. It works perfectly and the dual speed limit issue of some Skoda maps are gone

But they are 4 years out of date, plus Urrell says the most recent up-date is OK.

No the map is at least as new as Skoda latest, if not newer. It is the model and year of car that uses a compatible map.

The new Skoda Portal maps have the latest changes to speed limits and road changes around here.

Might update mine then.

I just wanted to thank everyone again for their comments.  Unfortunately the purchase of the Yeti didn't go to plan, so I am currently keeping my beautiful Fabia.  Hopefully the right Yeti is out there waiting for me.

We were getting a new car when I retired but we could not part with the Fabia we had had for 10 years, It took 1½ years until we had a test drive in a Yeti to change that.
We ordered one one to our spec and it was built and delivered in about 8 weeks. Have not looked back since.
We did not trade in the Fabia but after having it in the garage for nearly a year got it out to sell and could not believe how uncomfortable it was and how much easier the Yeti was to get in and out of.

Hi Urrell,

I would definitely have been the proud owner of a Yeti had we not had problems with the purchase yesterday.. so fingers crossed it will happen.
