Which hardware to chose, to be able to unlock features?

Featured Replies

Dear all, I'm hoping this post will make sense. I'm currently in the market for a Kodiaq 1.5 TSI and I've recently learned that some features can be unlocked if the right hardware is there.

My question is, if anyone knows, what hardware I should add to be able to add the most features such as TJA/Road sign recognition and perhaps other nifty features. Obviously I'd like to add the cheapest possible hardware and still have these features unlocked.

Any feedback is much appreciated! 🙂

Kind regards

Link removed at OP's request.

Most of the unlockable features come with the more advanced 'highline' windscreen mounted camera.

Here are the locations of the 'lowline' and 'highline' cameras...

You can also see the light sensor for the activation of the headlights, it is the black spot on the back of the rear view mirror.

You can also see the rain sensor for the automatic wipers, it is the grey circular sensor on the windscreen underneath the 'highline' camera.

If you have Lane Assist you can have Traffic Sign Recognition enabled easily enough...

Thanks  the quick reply! Definitely helpful. With roadsign recognition, can i then enable lane assist? Asking as that would make it much cheaper, if you know obviously. Regardless, thank you!

Yes you can.

Is that right? Traffic sign recognition is a £90 option in the UK, while Lane assist is £980. Are you saying I could spec Traffic sign recognition then enable Lane Assist with VCDS?

All you need is a A5 camera in windshield. A5 camera comes with TRaffic Sign Recognition (and High Beam Assist, as some say).

And not only assist, but Lane guidance as well.

Search for forum, lots of stuff about this.

And you need VCDS of course.

Thats what I heard as well, now Im just trying to figure out what little hardware the Kodiaq needs from the factory to unlock traffic jam assistance, LA etc.

Also, thank you Linni.

Traffic jam assist - you  need  ACC for this. And camera. Maybe something else.

Perfect option though, glad I ordered assistance pack which included traffic jam assist.

Here is some guides for OBD11, basic coding should be the same for VCDS:

Thanks Linni. Doesnt the style version have ACC as standard? Also, would the camera from the added road sign detection package be enough for those? Sorry if these are dumb questions! Have a great evening

Yes it would.
