Turbo Pipe...Popped off, now I can't get it back on?!

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Tonight, put my foot down for a little boost and heard a pop.

Car sounds like exhaust is blowing, which I guess is understandable and only a bit of boost.

Found the pipe where it had come off and picture of pipe below, but I cannot for the life of me get it back on. Any ideas please?

You need to release the tension on that spring clamp to be able to put the pipe back in place, they have caused me no end of cuts & bruises even after buying a set of dedicated special tools.

Ah okay, thank you - I did wonder but I just get the pipe that has come off to meet the one with the clip but sounds like releasing it will help.

What size are the clips, if you know? I need to find some pipe grippers on it.

Are these prone to popping off? I have just had cambelt done within last 500 miles so seems funny how it's popped off.

Well, you need to remove those pipes to change the cam belt, so back to the supplying garage...

Yep, exactly - I know they are at fault for this.

However, I cannot drive the car as the pipe is rubbing against the alternator pulley and the garage is 8 miles away (circa 25t minutes) so it’s not a risk I wanna take. If I can do it myself, I’ll just fix it and put it down to experience 😞

Was going to suggest posting this on here as I saw it on FB. Forums have a lot more knowledge and mature discussions, plus the fact that you’ll never lose your topic!

Hope you get it fixed!

Thanks buddy.

Yes, got it sorted Wednesday night - got a jubilee clip on it instead now and managed about 110 miles yesterday, all trouble free.
