Ownership – 1 year on

Featured Replies

Heading to a year of ownership, having bought a low mileage 1.4tsi that was 3 years old.  Safe to say the honeymoon period is over so how do I feel about the car a year down the line?

I still REALLY like the car, so many things I appreciate, the space, refinement, comfort, equipment, practicality, low running costs, etc.  None of that has changed.

A few things have niggled:

  • Creaking front suspension, makes what otherwise feels quite premium a bit low rent.  Annoys over every speed bump. It was mentioned at a service and went away for a while, but came back quick enough.  I've been following the creaking thread so I need to see about getting it sorted.
  • A few rattles have appeared, still quite good for a 4 year old car but there is one in the passenger area that I can't seem to resolve, but I will track it down.
  • Slight whine in first gear, has been there from day one, don't know if it is normal or not but was not a factor on a previous 6 speed manual Passat.

Not a long list really!

I came from a F10 5 series, and while nice there were more things on that car that annoyed, and have not regretted replacing it with the Superb for a minute.

How many miles have you / it done ?
