Vibrations

Featured Replies

Hey Guys

im about to figure Out whats my problem.

my car

2016 Octavia RS TSI with DSG

50.000 km

220 HP

i changed my dsg oil and for this you have to take off the battery completly - normal procedure so far.

as i started the car again (filter changed and battery back in with New dsg oil) i noticed that the whole car is shaking. Put DSG in drive or reverse-> the car doesnt move but its still shaking. So i figured out that the steering sensor was out of order :) i turned fully left and Right ... everything is running smoothly again and i drove back Home. weird  thing :)

after a few days i noticed that the car is still shaking a little bit in idle. Not as hard as before but i feel some vibrations when engine is on idle. You can feel it in the steering a Bit and also outside on the door.

my first thoughts are „omg the dsg“ ... so i brought it to the local dealer. He checked the dsg with Mechatronic but all good.

so today i tried to locate the Problem. Not that easy but i noticed the following:

- TSI Engine block is vibrating- i can see it a little bit and i feel it if i put my hand on the block

- little vibrations on the steering wheel

- little vibrations on the hole car if i put my Hand on

my thoughts are engine mount but im unsure.

hopefully you can understand my broken english :) :)

what do you think?

checked failure codes but there arent any.

There is a specific process to change dsg oil. It's not as simple as drain and fill. There is a special fill process and gear change sequence to get the oil flowing correctly.

Yeah i know. I did the whole process of course.

But thats not the topic... its about the vibrations after losing the steering sensor ...

I was just checking as there have been others on here just replacing the oil. Could have been related.

Also trying to understand what the dsg change has to do with steering system. Are they linked in some way?

maybe

i think if theres no signal it wont move... as happened in my case.

So today i used my VCDS again to Check Codes.

and i found something:

p0638 throttle body

signal unplausible

but it says code is temporary?

Clear the code and see if it comes back - it's not unknown for modules to start up strangely and throw random codes.
