Front shocks

Featured Replies

Had an mot on my octavia mk2 vrs last week and i got an advisory for both front shocks to be replaced (later in the year) due to light oil spray on both. What i want to know is if this is a common fault and how much it cost to have sorted as just had the great privilege of paying skoda way over the odds for a service.

Was that by chance Kwik-Fit?!

I’d be very careful and get a second opinion.

My VRS although high mileage at 145,000 miles went for a service last year at a supposed VAG specialists and was advised of a misting shock on the rear and brake discs starting to pit and become worn and would need all replacing.

It then a week later went to a Skoda dealer where they carried out a health check for free. No issues with the brakes or shocks...

it’s been for 2  X MOT’s since and passed first time with no advisories....

Get a second opinion is my advice just incase you have a rodeo with a cowboy!

I have a set for sale. PM sent.

Shocks are a wear and tear item so it's more likely they are worn and old not faulty.

Maybe get a second opinion but as we don't know the year and mileage it's hard to say.

Had my mot done last year at a VW indy, and misting to NSF shock was an advisory. Few months later the NSF spring snapped so made sense to get shocks changed at the same time as springs.

NSF shock was defo on it's way out but osf was even worse and had no damping what so ever.

Only approx £100 for a pair of b4s from bilstein or Ebay. Worth it for a piece of mind Imo

How many miles have they done? Do you have a picture of the misting on both of them?

The car has done 75000 currently and i can get a picture of both, the bloke in the garage said its a common fault.
