So just in the middle of servicing the daughter car. I ordered the same oil I had last year (still 2 liter of that left) but just going to put it in and noticed a little different. Both are 5/40 fully synthetic but this years bottle I ordered online for some reason is only 5 01 00 and not 5 01 01. It's in a 1.2 3 cylinder 12v mpi engine. 

 

Can I use it or do I need to loose out and but another one

I can't help you personally with that but I can mention, Asda have a promotion on at the moment for their oil and the Skoda/VW version (Purple bottle)  is £19 for 5L of fully synthetic oil. Not a bad price and it may well leave you with around 1L spare after an oil change, for top-ups between services!

I'd expect that car to require 502 00 for annual servicing?
