Car Stereo

Featured Replies

Good evening

I have a 2008 Octavia and looking at replacing the stereo, can anyone recommend which unit I should go for?? I have been looking at Chinese head units on eBay, but I am very dubious of buying anything with Chinese next to it.

thanks

Whats your budget, and what sort of functionality are you looking for?

The Chinese android units are popular for good reason, they come with far more functionality than the standard Skoda units provide, and they cost a lot less too.

My budget is £120-200, as many functions as I can get for my money Bluetooth, Sat Nav, DAB etc etc

Yeah you won't get a decent Skoda stereo for that kind of money, and even the good chinese stereos are normally over £200.

For example, I bought this one 6 months ago: https://www.androidice.com/vw-seat-skoda-various-android-9-0-pq89unvip.html

I have just mounted this unit on my Scout yesterday and so far it is working  well.  Fits fantastically in the dash too.

It's a good bit of kit! It has a few quirks but the functionality surpasses all the standard Skoda/VW head units.

I've been playing around with new launchers and music players trying to squeeze the most out of it lately, I've been using Car Launcher AGAMA and Poweramp, makes it a lot easier to use and better to look at.

I'm having trouble connecting the head unit to the OBD connector from xtrons that I got together. Any explanation why? I am trying to accss the factory settings but it is pin coded which I cannot find now?

Try 126 for the factory settings menu.

There's a wealth on information on Chinese stereos on that page, should help iron out a few kinks and suchlike.

Many thanks Chris!

Any idea on what the OBD's issue may be?

Not off the top of my head - I haven't used it on my stereo yet, although I do have a Bluetooth odb adapter kicking around. I'll see if I can give it a test over the weekend and see if I have any issues.
