Hi,

 

When I bought the car some 8 months ago the knob to control the cooling in the glovebox was broken. I have the knob itself but it cannot be attached at teh clipping bits that keep it in place are torn.

 

Any chance you guys can help me find one? I´ve been looking in Aliexpress but I cannot seem to find any?

 

It looks similar to the one fitted in Fabias and it is not a part prone to failure. Have you tried local vehicle dismantlers?

I assume that part could be standard to those cars with cooled aircon at the time ('07).

 

I have not been to any yet. I rather was looking to find a replacement for the part online but if nothing comes of it I will have to.

 

Isn't there a part number on the knob?

I can't find any reference to the part online despite my car having one.

 

Consult a VAG dealer, source a vehicle dismantler/scrap yard or stick it on with tape.

If it was my problem, I'd just drill out the center of both parts of the assembly and stick a little bolt through, (locking nut on the inside so it can be just right enough to be snug but still moves freely)  refit, job done.

 

That would keep it working until you find a replacement?

For the time being is fine. I have blocked the hole where the air comes out of and I am in no rush. However, it is in my to do list of repairs on the car. 

 

I think the best option should be going to a scrap yard as I think that the knob itself may not be sold separately.
