Skoda Felica 1.3 what kind of air filter do you use?

Featured Replies

I have use till now:

Factory paper filter

Aftermarket paper filter

K&N gauze panel filter

BMC gauze panel filter

Simota round cone with air intake

OMP polyurethane round cone

No Name gauze round cone

Green gauze round cone inside the (half) air box

What you have used all these years?

Good or bad results?

Any other suggestions?

I removed the hose which brings the hot air from the exhaust manifold to the air box because no needed this in our climate here

I the past i have removed the hose from the front bumper hole so the air box could take more air but this caused me a noise problem (Booooaa) and a ''gap'' of acceleration at low rpm so i put it back but not 100% fitted

still there is a small gap in purpose.

Also i have made a small patent and a light elastic hose brings cool air from the grill inside the air box,i think in National Road at higher speeds this will help more...B)

The std factory air filter for 21 years the Felicia has some 95,500 miles on the clock and have had no problems it do's not use any oil at all, on the question of oil I have always used a good quality oil 10/40 or 15/40 and changed it some times twice a year for me it is the most important part of looking after a engine of any kind would you like dirty blood in your body. Oil is cheaper than engine parts.

I have used the cheapest non-Chinese air filters (Starline) with normal results. I've tried once a Mann filter. No noticeable difference.

I ve just used normal air filters mann most often or valeo or something along those lines.
They are just fine i mean the 1.3 is not soooo air hungry.
Changing the filter will most often times reduce power in non maf equipped cars as the have no way of knowing how much air enters and the will run a bit lean.Skoda has a map/iat sensor not a maf so it cannot accurately gauge the amount of air entering.

Gentlemen, a clarification: when i say ''oil'' i mean the oil that you apply on the gauze filter as K&N and not the motor oil.

Some guys overdo it with that spray and soon or later their sensors have problem plus the dust fill the pores of the filter easily.

Here is what i have today after so many experiments with other type of filters

a classic paper filter with a hose from the grill to bring extra air inside the filter box except the factory hose in the bumper.
