How to unlock boot

Featured Replies

This is stupid but I have just bought a Skoda fabio estate with central locking. The keys don't have buttons so I assume the key is meant to unlock the other doors. The central locking is broken so you just use the key which is fine except I can't find a keyhole on the boot. Is there a button in the car somewhere?

All Fabias have central locking, NOT all Fabias have remote central locking however.

When you unlock the car using the key all the locks should unlock, you can then open the boot by pressing the rubber pad above the number plate between the number plate lamps, that is the boot release button.

If the drivers door lock is broken you should try the passenger door lock.

From my reading, central locking was put on Comfort models sometime after mine was produced., as my 04 TDI does not have central locking of any form . Each door ( and hatch in my case) has it's own system. Doors -front have key operated locks, rears are locked with a lock button on the top and unlocked by operating the door opener once. The bot/hatch is released using what the manual calls an "actuator lever" . This is a cable system with the lever placed on the plastic trim located on the upper sill ,and hidden when the driver door is closed. As mine is "pauvre spec" model, I don't know if higher spec models retained this lever, which has a "boot" symbol on it. It's not shown in my manual, but if anyone is interested I'll take a photo .

Some don't have it.

TMB- I occasionally have central locking, only SWIMBO forgets to see if keys are in or out of car. 😃

Here we go again.

Which models officially imported to the UK don't have any central locking fitted at all, just so that the OP can check his please?

Pretty sure one of my workmates has one without, I'll check year tomorrow but I'm pretty sure it's 'Classic' trim, 1.4 MPI.

Don't wait, there's a chance to attack me now, go round there, wake him up and demand the evidence, proving me wrong is more important than anything else.

As usual my sloppy approach to accuracy has endangered one of our members, I MUST be stopped now!

OP I apologise, apparently it is possible that you and I are in fact completely wrong and your car does not have central locking after all in which case my advice about opening the boot should be completely ignored.

Phew, crisis averted, it would appear that you do have central locking after all but that your drivers door lock may be faulty if it's not unlocking the whole car properly.

My pal's car is a 52-reg classic. no C/L, release thingy by the driver's seat, no way to do it from outside, he says.

@mark09 what leads you to think your car has C/L? What year is it?

Errata- just had a look at my car's spec. It's an 04 Classic, in the days before Skoda fitted central locking to all models. So in my post of yesterday COMFORT should read Classic.

1.9 sdi,Classic ,year 2000 no central locking
