Our octavia, take 2

Easy enough to get the silica bag out?

Mine's still in there, but the car's still under warranty, so I don't want to stand accused of 'modifying' the car 🙄

I'll be interested in your thoughts of the Osrams v the Philips as I have the Philips in my Octavia, but Osrams in our Fiesta.  From my view the Philips are better, but as they are in different headlights, its hardly a fair comparison.

It's not difficult, it's just fiddly and far easier if you have small hands.

Unfortunately I'm still in isolation so haven't had the chance to drive it out and about but I might take it out onto the far track tonight and give a comparison.

Only a small job today, The wheel centre caps.

The original caps that were fitted were absolutely awful, I initially thought they were cheap ebay specials but it turns out they are genuine skoda.

Yes I know, the wheels are awful and when all this pandemic stuff ends they will be sent off for a refurb.

Anyway the new (ebay special) caps.

As expected the quality isn't the best, but they are no worse than the genuine article. I'm quite disappointed by the originals and I'm glad I didn't pay extra for genuine caps.

Are you sure the original caps are genuine, they look like a sticker that is peeling off?

The genuine caps shouldn't peel like that as they are one-piece. A lot of the copy products also replicate the Skoda logo and part number on the inside.

You're missing the wheel bolt caps too, and it looks like someone has removed the locking wheel nuts and replaced them with non-locking bolts...

The old caps have the skoda logo and part numbers embossed into the back, maybe fake and wouldn't surprise me.

I took the plastic caps off as they were a mess (but another set is on order), I also took the locking wheel nuts off as the key had damage to it and the last thing I want is to be stuck at the side of the motorway unable to get the wheel off.
