Estate Rear Window Blind Sets

Featured Replies

Anyone got any rear blind recommendations? This is just to reduce sunlight for my two children on occasional longer trips. I don't want to get them tinted as my insurance will increase.

I see that Super Skoda do a set that look pretty good, but are there any others out there that members have tried and tested?

Thanks

The SuperSkoda ones are good, I’ve seen them in a couple of cars now and they are nice. I keep threatening to get some but I have the window tints and no real need for them. If and when I find a puppy to add to the family it will (knowing my luck) chew them anyway so they’ll probably never make it all the way into my cart but I do like them.

I've got factory sunset tints plus these:

Not fitted the ones to the back window but have fitted the ones to the rear passenger and little side windows further back ("quarter light" maybe?). No problems to report, the join in the middle of the back window one might be annoying  but as I say, not fitted that.

It looks like they do a cheaper set just for the rear windows, but for aesthetics it would be nice if they had the little windows too:

Same set up for me - I have fitted the rear blinds and don’t find the middle joint in the rear window any issue whatsoever.

i really like the carshades. I have had them in my last 2 cars + my Octavia.

So can you confirm that the rear window has full coverage including where the window is split into two in the door frame, its not clear in the diagram that it is but it seems to describe that there is "100% coverage of the rear side windows.

Be nice to seem some in the flesh for sure, and yep looks like a puppy might have a good chew on them, thankfully both my children are out of that stage these days.😁

Yes this has 100% coverage by a single blind across the entire “split” glass. The opening section and non opening fixed pane.

I will try and post some pics tomorrow if you like ?  Bit dark to take photos now !

Here are a few pictures, not the best. I’ve zoomed in on the clips to show how they hold in as well. I haven’t taken a picture of the rear window - but will as soon as I put the blind back in. Took it out last week as I’d just driven a loan car and realised how much more you see with it removed, so am giving it a trial in this crap weather !

Thanks very much for taking the time to post up the pictures. They look neat and tidy. Good that you get the rear most quaterlight too.

Presume that opening the window is still ok?

Further question

Opening window is still fine !

i also had reason to contact carshades for some spare clips - I broke one in fitting (I tried to be clever and nip it tighter with some pliers). They sent me spare ones FOC.

+1 for the car shades.

Had to contact them for some extra\better clips to join the 2 sections covering the back window but were very helpful and got them FOC within a day or 2.

I have the sunset glass but this does nothing to keep the sun off the little one.

Sunset glass and these shades are just the ticket and stops prying eyes too.

Thanks alot all for the recommendations.

We had Climair ones in the wife's Rapid, and Car Shades ones in my old Passat.

My only issue with the Car Shades ones was the split rear window. It looked more ugly than the 1-piece provided in the Climair set, and occasionally would fall down and need to be reattached.

Having said that, the Car Shades were significantly cheaper.

Of course, fitment on the Octavia might be different.

Unfortunately Climair  doesn't  list sunshades for the mk3 Octavia which seems odd as such a popular model. Thanks for the reply though.

I know for the Rapid we had to special order them from Germany. Super expensive!

To be honest I mostly just wanted to warn about the split window on the Car Shades set. While not the end of the world, I'd look for a set that has a one-piece rear window if I was getting some for my Octavia. Just my 2 cents!

Yes, thanks for that point again on the rear shade being split.  I think it would bug me as I like to have good visability. I only ever load the boot to the cover level. I don't stuff it full like some and turn it into van when going on holiday. The roof box is there for that excess. 😁

The rear window really isnt an issue, it has to be in 2 parts to fit the recess. You really wont notice it, just ask for extra clips.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just ordered some, will be my 4th set, just wondering if anyone know what %darkness the standard tint is, want to get the front two windows done but the same level or lower
