Columbus Sat Nav not working in Octavia Scout

Featured Replies

The satelite navigation in my 2016 Skoda Octavia Scout has been working for the past two years.  However, now when I try to access Navigation

I get the error message  'The navigation data in the infotainment system is not valid.  Please check data.'   I have tried a soft reset to no avail.

I have done nothing to change the operation of the system and I am wondering whether the local Skoda Service Agent did something to it when

they were trying to code a new key for me.   Everything else seems to be working apart from the Navigation system.

Have you tried updating the mapping data on the SD Card?

If this is a Columbus, download the maps again - copy to the root of an SD Card, insert, Infotainment>Update

This will reinstall the maps on the Hard Drive in the unit - won't take more than about 15-20 minutes. If the Nav has been working, its possible that the map data has become corrupt.

Certainly the quickest and easiest thing to try.

Thanks Nickcoll and Stoofa for your responses.

Unfortunately,  I can't reach the part of the navigation program where you can update the maps.   When I turn the ignition on there is a message displayed on the infotainment screen   'Starting navigation'

with a rotating circle indicating action somewhere.   After about thirty seconds I get the error message 'The navigation data in the infotainment system is not valid.  Please check data.'

It would seem that the navigation program has been damaged in some way and that maybe a firmware update is needed.   I think the car is still under warranty and I will have to check with the dealer

as to whether they will rectify the fault.

I am fortunate that the local Skoda agent accepted responsibility for the navigation not working in the Infotainment unit after they reprogrammed a new key for the car.

They reinstalled the software in the unit  which restored it's full function.
