Hi all

I am new here and have had a search about but can’t find whey I’m looking for.

I have a 07 Octavia and was wondering if the 4x4 or scout springs would fit as I could do with a little more height but unfortunately don’t have the finances at the moment to change car?

tia for your help

According to my local dealer, the springs for the 4x4 and Scout are the same as the non 4x4 versions.  I asked as I seemed to be replacing suspension componentson my Scout on a regular basis.  It actually failed its first MoT due to a fractured Coil Spring.

The difference in ride height between the 4x4 and Scout is due to higher sidewall on the Scout tyres.

What engine does your 2007 Skoda Octavia Hatchback have? Does it have a manual or automatic gearbox? Does it have air conditioning? Does it have a factory fitted towbar? Answers to these questions could all affect which springs you have as standard. There are a large number of different springs depending on the answers to these questions. The 4x4 or Scout springs are likely to be different.

What are the Skoda OEM part numbers for your front and rear springs? You can find this information out from a Skoda parts department...just ask them for a quote.

that’s interesting, I would have figured a bigger spring on the scout?

I’m going to look into different tyres for it too as the fronts are getting down a little

The other thing the mechanic told me was the springs on the Scout were similar (or were from the VW Passat).  How true that is I don't know, and as I'm looking to change my vehicle soon, is not something I hopefully have to worry about!

You haven't said why you want or need the raised ride height.  If it is for comfort reasons I found a noticeable improvement in ride comfort since fitting Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons Gen2.  They are probably the best tyre I've fitted since owning the vehicle for the last 10 years.  The Goodyears are a more winter biased All Season, whereas the Michelin Cross Climates are more summer biased.

Yea I guess the could be, they are all the same cars/company aren’t they.

really it’s just for the weekends as I’m having to sell my weekend truck to get my mrs a car and I spend a lot of my spare time on farms and the tracks so the little bit of extra height in the suspension/ride height would help.

Obviously I don’t expect it to do what a 4x4 can but if it can get me onto the yards etc it will be a help.

I know what I really need is another 4x4 but unfortunately I can’t afford it as I do 25k ish a year in the car.

I don’t suppose you know whether the suspension was interchangeable between the models?

In some European markets such as Finland, you can order some cars with standard suspension, 15mm lowered "sports" suspension, and 15mm raised "off-road" suspension.

If you can find out that your model of car could be ordered with 15mm raised "off-road" suspension, then you could use official parts. It could be just different springs, or it might be both springs and shock absorbers.

Maybe just fit 205/70R15 tyres instead of standard 195/65R15 tyres. This would also raise the car up by about 15mm. Vredestein Quatrac 5 are available in 205/70R15. This would raise your gearing by just over 5% which is quite a big increase. As car speedos tend to over-read by about 5%, this should make your speedo spot on. You can now check your actual speed using google maps.
