Hose not fitted to air filter

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

I was changing the battery in my car today and realised that one of the hoses was flying around the engine chamber. After quick inspection I've noticed that it should've been attached to the air filter (I assume it will be something turbine related but I'm not an expert).

Is it something I need to be worry about? The hose was damaged so I cut a bit off and plugged it back in place.

Shall I just buy some flexible hose of the same diametre or does it have to be the exact shape/size replacement part? I don't even know what is the proper name of this "part" and everything I've found so far online was way much bigger - so any help will be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance and I hope my spelling is clear enough as English in not my first language.

Any bit of hose of the correct diameter will do. (As long as it can cope with the heat under yr bonnet, so a bit of standard fuel hose, or some silicone is fine)

Doesn't need to be the exact same shape, as long as it doesn't collapse when you bend it around that corner. I'd suggest you start with a bit too long, test fit, then progressively trim until it seems about right.

If you’ve cut a bit off and pushed it on and it’s not kinked in any way and making a good connection, just leave it and enjoy the free fixing of the problem 😊

Thanks guys!

I'll leave it for now then and see how it goes and if need be I'll buy some similar hose and follow the instructions give above.

It’s to feed clean air to the vacuum control box.
