  • Currently on sofa..lol    Wiltshire

  • The stop start might not be helping if the battery isn't getting chance to get charged right up. Roughly speaking, it takes about 20 minutes without a lot of steering to top the battery right up.

Nice. It does make me suspect a loose connection as the base problem.

Damn this car..lol well light has just come back on, pain in my ass...where could this loose connection be if it is that, I'd like a loose connection rather than power steering pump.

Still waiting to hear if you checked the strip fuses on top of the battery.

Hello yes all checked today by a guy..lol

All looked ok, bloody light is off again

Hope he looked carefully and gave them a poke as the cracks in the metal can be very hard to see. Other than that, it's probably the pump electronics as others have said.

{{Samantha}} Well, remember that all we definitely know about your car is what you tell us, and we'll suggest the cheapest and most likely causes of a fault light first.

@KenONeill i don't  understand what your getting at? I have been very grateful for everyone's help here, i was hoping it would be a cheap easy fix but doesn't  seem to be the case...i realise people have mentioned the pump, while i was hoping it wasn't it seems like it must be...i haven't been disconnecting the battery and the light is remaining on now...so hard to drive....but needs must..

We don't know exactly what symptoms your car shows, beyond what you describe. Also, we'll suggest things like loose wires and blown fuses before the electric pump because the wires and fuses are lots cheaper to fix (like say £5 rather than £500).

I'm having the same issue of a heavy Steering with the exception that no lights come up. we have replaced the pump and the sensor and checked also the wires going to the pump. Fuses , earth cable, battery and cables to and fro where checked. hydrolic oil replaced to make sure its not the cause. Can't find other option even tough we searched the net and took the car already to two electricians to check for codes/error. i'm starting to think its an issue with the mechanical part of steering rack/shaft maybe some seals etc. any help would be highly appreciated :(
