Passenger Door Locking

Featured Replies

Hi all

I see there's another thread about passenger door locking issues but mine seems different.

I've noticed for maybe a week now that when I've been locking the car on the fob its been doing like a double locking thing all round the car by the way it sounds. I thought the button was getting dodgy on the fob already.

Then the red LED will stay lit for some time, go out then start flashing as normal (i think normal...)

So today i go shopping lock the car then think maybe I'll just check the doors have locked. Get to the passengers side and door opens alarm goes off.

Try cycling unlocking / locking a few times no change.

Anyway a bit swearing and what is this turd they've sold me go off and do the shopping....

Have a better look when back home, I'm just about to drive to the dealers and have a moan about it  but have more of look first.

Tried the settings in the car setting menu for door opening, didn't seem to make any difference. I usually have it set to unlock one door only.

I found the internal locking switch seemed to be working with all doors as could hear / feel the passenger door mech locking / unlocking.

Tried central locking again and seemed to of cleared the problem. LED flashes quick then slow flashing as normal, passengers side door locked OK.

Cycled it a few times seemed OK.

Any ideas, maybe the door mech needs some lubrication or just duff? or a software glitch....?

I might post up my permanent fix for the door rattling, it will involve gaffer tape and a block of thick foam....

I'm not sure if I'm going to keep this car beyond its warranty, build quality and reliability seem pretty lame on these latest versions.

I get the feeling its going to get expensive after that point.

The double locking sound is the door locks, locking then unlocking because one door didn't lock properly.

Is / was the passenger door not shut completely?

Seat belt in the doorway jam can happen.

Are the door catches secure / not loose?

Thanks AG Falco

Sounds about right.

Passenger door was closed correctly, i checked multiple times today. Its been like this for a week i think, it was only today i thought to check the doors...

Seat belt was right out the way so not that. Not checked the door catches, but didn't notice anything hanging off!!
It seemed to clear once i used the internal door lock button. I worked it a few times and could hear / feel the mech working in the door. I was on my own so couldn't actually check it was locked but i reckon it was.
I don't know why that would work but the key fob wouldn't. Don't think changing door opening behaviour in the setup menu did anything.
Maybe its lack of use as i only unlock the drivers door normally. It was the only door affected though, the boot gets unlocked more.

No point taking it back to them for that at the moment unless it fails completely or can provoke it to play up on demand. Will get charged if they don't find a fault.
Guess the cars 6 months old now. Its rattling like a 6 year+ old car internally.... Not so impressed with that to be honest.

They've had 3 attempts at fixing the rattles now. The tech agreed with me that its pretty rubbish and really annoying... It gets quite sweary in there some days.
