Skoda Octavia 2017 - 1.0 TSI - interested in review?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have recently bought a Skoda Octavia 1.0 TSI estate/wagon 2017 - pre-facelift, at first I was turned off by the 1.0 TSI on paper and it getting mixed reviews from motoring journalists and people on forums - however after a 30 min test drive, it fulfilled my needs.  We just got a beautiful little daughter and need more space.

My question is, are there others considering the same car who would like me to write a review on this? If so, please let me know and I will try to write a review. I am not a motor-head by any means, but as my job requires extensive travel I have probably driven more than 100 different rental cars so I have acquires some feel for cars. Attaching some pictures of my Octavia 1.0TSI.

I am also considering installing the pedal box, anyone tried?

It’s always good to hear people’s opinions on different cars.

Congratulations on you new baby girl, for a brief moment I thought you were talking about your car but realised she was the reason for your new purchase :)

The Octavia estate/combi/wagon is one of the most space efficient vehicles of its type and ideal for a growing family.

Most owners report excellent fuel economy and more than adequate performance on public roads. Mine is a 1.4tsi but I have a very high regard for it.

Always interested to hear people's opinions of their vehicles even if they are not particularly favourable although I think some car comparisons are often way beyond the Octavia price range and a little unfair.

Hello and welcome to the Forum,

My partner has a saloon TSI 1.0 115bhp and loves it to bits!  It goes quickly and returns 60-70mpg.  Plenty of room.  Engine is great as long as it is regularly serviced.  I like the leather interior, but suggest you invest in some AutoGym cleaner and feed.

Hi,

Congratulations on your new car/daughter. I really like the beige interior.

I also picked the 1.0 TSI engine as I didn't want any hassle/kangaroo related issues of the 1.5 TSI engine which has been widely reported online, but denied by my supplying Skoda dealer. Like you I thought I would test drive the 1.0 engine and as I felt it was sufficient I chose this option.

I would be interested to read your thoughts of it if you were to write a review.

The best return I've had on a single trip had been 61.4mpg but over 4,600 miles it has averaged 52.1mpg.

Hi I bought the saloon 1L TSI and driving it almost 2 years now and love it . Find it comfortable and a pleasure to drive also very very economical on fuel .

This is my first Skoda car and I don't regret it .It's also very spacious with plenty of leg room in front and for back seat passengers . My brother is 6ft 4ins and even he said he's got plenty of leg and head room when sitting in back. So wish you all the best with new car and congratulations on new baby daughter

I have done about 4000 miles in my 1.0 manual hatch in 3.5 months, however I am only getting about 43mpg (measured brim to brim). The computer says about 5-10% more.  I have had over 60mpg (computer figure) on a run that was 50% 50mph average speed roadworks and I am more than happy with the space and performance for the cost of the car.

On the one occasion I did a journey with 5 people & luggage, I did notice a slight drop in performance, but the car was still more than capable of single carriageway overtakes so I am more than happy with my engine choice.

Next month I am doing a trip away with 5 people and a roof box (as the dog is taking the boot).  I'll see if that makes a noticeable difference.

One difference in the UK is we are restricted to the lower trim levels with the 1.0 engine so the fancy interiors are not available to us.
