Hi, im new to this forum.   My Octavia developed a problem two weeks ago, the tailgate central locking makes a whirring noise when opened but the the tailgate wont open.  It makes a whirring noise but pressing the release button on the tailgate will not open it.  The central locking is working and opens all the other doors no problem.  I had to open it manually from inside.   Apologies if this topic has been raised before, I couldn't find anything in a search, but can anyone help with advice?   Im on a budget so dont really want to take it to a garage if its something I can fix myself.  

Sounds like a faulty boot catch mechanism...
